Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need experience?
Yes — we ask for at least 1 year of professional care experience.

Do I need a car?
Many roles involve travelling between visits, so access to a car is required. We also offer paid mileage.

What checks are needed and how long do they take?
You’ll need an enhanced DBS check, two references, and proof of right to work in the UK. The DBS usually takes 1–3 weeks, and we’ll keep you updated throughout. You can begin induction training while waiting for clearance, so you’re ready to start quickly.

What shifts are available?
We offer flexible working hours to suit your lifestyle, including daytime, evening, and weekend shifts. Hours range from 16 to 40 per week, and you can discuss your availability during the application process.

What training and support will I receive?
Every colleague receives full induction training and ongoing development tailored to their role. Our unique wellbeing programme supports your happiness and health at work, not just the people you care for.

Is this a live-in role?
Some Health & Wellbeing Associate positions are live-in, but most are daytime or visiting support. We’ll make your role clear during the application process.

Do I have opportunities to progress?
Yes! Many colleagues grow into senior roles or specialist positions. We support career growth, specialist training and celebrate achievements along the way.

What makes Thrive different from other care providers?
We prioritise wellbeing for everyone — the people we support and our colleagues. That means:

  • Time to build genuine relationships

  • A bespoke wellbeing programme for all colleagues to support and explore their own wellbeing

  • Colleagues who support each other every step of the way

Will I be working alone?
You’ll often be supporting someone one-to-one, but you’re never alone in the wider team. Regular check-ins, team meetings, and ongoing guidance ensure you always have support.

What if I have other commitments?
We understand life is complicated. We offer flexible hours and shifts that can fit around childcare, study, or other responsibilities.

How quickly can I start?
Once a job offer has been accepted, we aim to get new colleagues into training and matched with people we support as soon as possible. The exact timing depends on availability, DBS checks and induction schedule.
